A real business address in Blackpool

Keep your home address private

Running a small business from home often means putting your home address on invoices, packaging, your website and your Google listing. Renting a unit gives you a proper physical base instead. Tenants are permitted to use the official address of the site for their business, so your home address can stay private.

Post, deliveries and visitors

The building is set up to receive business mail and deliveries, and you can meet clients and customers at your unit. That makes it practical as the address you give suppliers, couriers and customers, not just a line on your letterhead.

Your Google Business Profile

Because you rent a real unit that you work from, you can register the address on your Google Business Profile. Local customers searching on Google Search and Maps can then find your business, see where you are and get directions, without your home appearing on the map.

Google has its own rules about which addresses it accepts. In short, the address must be a real location where your business operates and can be contacted, not a virtual office or a PO box. Read Google's guidelines for representing your business before you apply, and follow its verification steps. Google decides whether a profile is verified, so we cannot guarantee the outcome, but renting a unit you genuinely work from is the kind of setup the guidelines describe.

Tips for a strong local listing

• Use exactly the same business name, address and phone number on your website, your Google profile and any directories.
• Choose the category that best describes what you actually do.
• Add real photos of your work and your unit, and keep your opening times accurate.
• Ask genuine customers for reviews. Never buy or write fake reviews; it breaks Google's rules and can get a profile suspended.
